FOSTER APPLICATION/AGREEMENT/FOSTER HOME GUIDELINES
If you are interested in fostering for RIAR (we need fosters!!), please download
and completely fill out the foster application. If you already have a male and female
dog living in your home, you would not be able to foster for us.
If approved, all fosters will be required to sign and abide by our foster agreement and
foster home guidelines, so please read the sample contract carefully!!
Hypothyroidism is a very common affliction among Akitas, possibly affecting
as much as 70-90%! In most cases, Akitas will not show any signs/symptoms until
they reach 4-8 years of age, but may present younger or older. If your Akita is displaying any odd behavior (like sudden, uncharacteristic aggression or anxiety) or has physical symptoms that just will not go away (like skin infection, hair loss, weight gain), or if you'd just like to research this disease, please read the attached article. We now include this in all of our adoption packets.
This is another thing we include in all of our adoption packets. This article
gives you tips on what you can do now to safe-guard your pet should they
become lost, and what you should do if they should get lost.
